Canadian Stocks/Old Stock Certificate

Question
Hi, I have an old stock certificate from December 1, 1928 for 1000 shares purchased at 1$/share for Grover Daley Mines, Ltd.  The company was incorporated under the Quebec Mining Companies Act.  The certificate number is 7686. The transfer agent was Prudential Trust Company, Limited, Montreal, Canada.
This was part of an authorized capital release where 3 million shares at 1$/share were issued.  My great-grandfather bought 1000 of them.  1000 dollars in 1928 would be the equivalent of about 12000 today.

Thanks in advance for your time and help!!!

Cheers,
Rich

Answer
Rich, I have no information on that company at all, as it predates most of the information I have available. However, keep in mind that the Great Depression destroyed the majority of exploration companies.

Usually when tracking old stocks, the best way is to contact the Transfer Agent. However, Prudential is long gone, and the agent that acquired them is long gone, too. You could try contacting Quebec as the Province of Incorporation and see what information they have available, or you could take the certificate to a broker and see if they can perform a more detailed search for you.
