Question
Wonder if you could please tell me if these shares hold any value. As said, they are "United Grain Growers Class A Non Voting Shares" and were issued in 1983. Thanking you in advance for your response.

Answer
Laurie, from the information I have available, United Grain changed its name to Agricore. Agricore was acquired by Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (now Viterra) in 2007 for $20.50 cash per share.

You can contact Viterra's transfer agent, Computershare (www.computershare.com) and see if they still have a record of your share ownership and your payment. If you did not receive the payment, it might have already been turned over to the government in your name for safekeeping. You will need to search the lost property office of each State or Province in which you lived from the time you bought the shares until the buyout. You can search many online for free at www.naupa.org or www.missingmoney.com. Search using the name exactly as it appears on the certificate, even if it is abbreviated or misspelled, as that is the name under which the money will be listed.
