QuestionWhile cleaning my filing cabinet I found 300 shares in Southern Eagle Petroleum Inc. that I purchased in 1984. After moving several times I lost contact with the Company. The last information that I have is in Oct 1987 when they were supposed to amalgamate with the following companies: Equican Ventures Inc; Fincorp Capital Inc; Four Fifty Dobbie Inc; Glenrealco Inc; Global International Energy Inc; and Mutec Equities Ltd. I never heard if they amalgamated or what name they went under if they did. Can anyone tell me if the Share Certificate is worth the paper it is written on?
AnswerElmer, Southern Eagle was very active with mergers and reverse splits. From 1984 to today, they have done 8 mergers and/or reverse splits, and last week they announced another merger.
Currently, they are known as Genterra Inc. The merger history of the company is very complicated, with new common shares, Class A non-voting shares, and new preferred shares all in the mix.
I suggest you should contact Genterra's transfer agent, Computershare, and let them know what you have. They will be able to sort through all the reverse splits and mergers and determine exactly how many shares of Genterra you may own now. They will also be able to reorganize your old shares into new shares which would allow you to sell them, if you desire. You can find Computershare on the web at www.computershare.com
