Question
Hi Steve,
We have discovered some old Canadian stock certificates from 1959-1960 that my Grandfather had bought before he died. No one knew about them.
The companies are: Centurion Mines LTD, registered with  Crown Trust Company, Toronto.
St Stephen Nickel Mines LTD registered with  The Eastern Trust Company, St. John, NB
lastly, Atlantic Nickel Mines LTD registered with Guaranty Trust Co. of Toronto. Can you help? Thank you in advance.

Answer
Sue, from the information I have available, this is what I found:

The Centurion appears to have no value - it became Caravelle Mines, which had its charter cancelled in 1976.

St. Stephen also appears to have no value - its charter was cancelled in 1968.

Atlantic Nickel went through several name changes and reverse stock splits (a 1 for 1.4, then a 1 for 6) and became Thundermin Resources. Thundermin is still around - it trades for about 11 cents per share on the TSX. You need to contact Thundermin's transfer agent, Equity Transfer (www.equitytransfer.com) in regards to getting the old shares reorganized into the new shares as well into the names of your Grandfather's heirs.
