Question
My mother and deceased step father have 1000 shares in Cobre Exploration Ltd and 200 in Nu Pacific Resources and 5000 in May-Ralph Resources Ltd are they any good any more?I think that Nu Pacific eventually went through about 4 name changes and is now Lake Shore Gold Corp and that Cobre is still around

Answer
Kevin, from the information I have available, this is what I found.

Cobre Exploration is not the same as the one still around. That is Cobre Exploration Corp. Cobre Ltd. changed its name back in 1984 to Mountain West Resources. Mountain West is still around - it trades on the TSX Venture for about 13 cents per share.

Nu Pacific not only did 4 name changes and became Lake Shore Gold, it also did at least 3 reverse stock splits (a 1 for 3, then a 1 for 3.4, then another 1 for 3). Therefore, the original 200 Nu Pacific would now be 6 shares of Lake Shore Gold, which trades for about $1.50 a share on the TSX.

May-Ralph was dissolved in 1987, and I don't believe there was any value for shareholders.

For the Cobre and Nu Pacific, you need to contact the current transfer agents to get the old shares reorganized into the new shares. For both companies, I believe the current agent is Computershare, which you can find on the web at www.computershare.com.
