Question
I recently came across a stock certificate for 1000 shares of Buffalo Red Lake Mines Limited.  The certificate was issued in my grandfather's name, on Nov. 21 1960.  The company was incorporated in Ontario and the transfer agent was Chartered Trust Company of Ontario.

How would I go about researching this company?

Answer
Unfortunately, from the information I have available, it appears the shares have no value. The Company did a 1 for 4 reverse stock split and changed its name to Consolidated Buffalo Red Lake Mines. Consolidated Buffalo had its charter cancelled in 1977, which is what happens when a company does not file its required regulatory paperwork and pay its incorporation fees for several years running - usually because the Company is long out of business.
