Question
we found a stock certificate under my mom's name for 500 shares issued in 1954 by a company called crown uranium. how do i go about seeing if the company had subsequently been acquired by another listed company.

Answer
Unfortunately, I have no information on Crown Uranium. That certificate was issued during a time when many hundreds of start-up uranium explorers were trying to cash in on the public's mania for anything uranium. Most quickly disappeared when the price of uranium crashed beginning in the mid-1950's.

If there is a transfer agent listed on the certificate, you should try to contact them first. They will know if your particular certificate has any current value. If you are unable to find them, try the Province of Incorporation and see what information they have available. You could also take the certificate to a broker and ask them to perform a more detailed search for you.
