Question

VGM Capital1
Dear Mr.Taylor,

In 1992 we were given the attached share certificate as payment for goods delivered.

We cannot find the said Corpration and we are wondering if these shares are still valid bust cannot find neither VGM nor R-M Trust Co.

Thanks for your help.

Pierre Martineau

Answer
Pierre, I show the company went bankrupt and reorganized in the early 1990's, which I assume is when you received your shares, since R-M Trust became their agent only after the reorganization. They were then delisted from the VSE due to too few shareholders. The only other reference I find after that is on the Canada Corporation site, which shows they amalgamated in 1994 and became Shelburne Marine Ltd. Shelburne went bankrupt in 1996 and was dissolved in 2002. It appears to be the same VGM as the site also shows VGM came from Vestgron Mines, which my other information confirms. I don't know if there was any value for common shareholders, but I doubt it.

I believe R-M Trust is now part of CIBC Mellon Trust (www.cibcmellon.com).
