Question
my mother found a  1949 certificate for 100 shares dated May 7, 1949. how can we find out the value of this?s there a contact number she can call?

Answer
You didn't say what the name of the company was, so I can't help you there. If there is a transfer agent listed on the certificate, you should try to contact them first, but considering it has been 60 years, there are not too many transfer agents from that era still in business. You can contact the Province of Incorporation (it is listed on the certificate) and see what information they have available, as they maintain certain information regarding each company incorporated there. You can also take the certificate to a broker and ask them to perform a more detailed search on your behalf.
