Question
My mother gave me 2000 shares of " western frieghters limited" of Vancuver B.C.Incorporated under the companies act of British Columbia and amending acts. These shares were purphased on 10/10/1923. My questions are, do these shares have any value? Can I find a history of this company? My grandfather was Roy Olmstead, he was a powerfull bootlegger. Was he involved in this company? Was this the company he set up with other bootleggers to supply the western U.S.? Was this company doing bussiness in Ensenada B.C.Mexico?

Thank you

Answer
John, I don't have any information on the Company, as it predates most of the information I have available.

In regards to your Grandfather, your observation regarding the reason for the incorporation is very plausible. I know there is a lot of information on him available in Seattle and Washington State museums, but for the Victoria/Vancouver connection, I suggest you contact the Royal B.C. Museum. The museum offers archive search help, which should be exactly what you are looking for. Try http://www.royalbcmuseum.bc.ca
