Expert: Steven Taylor - 8/7/2009
QuestionQUESTION: We have found 4,000 shares of Southvue Gold Mines Ltd. (1948/49) & 15,000 shares of Taskteck Mines Limited (1955) that belonged to our grand-father and are wondering what the value(s) would be? Your help would be appreciated.
ANSWER: Deborah, I have nothing on the companies you listed, but I do so information for Southvue Mines Ltd. (no "Gold") and Tashteck Mines Limited (it may be a typo). Can you confirm the names?

QUESTION: Thank you for your prompt response. The names were taken from the stock certificates. We also have 450 shares of Ascot Metals Corporation Ltd. (1951), 20,833 of Mirador Mines Limited (1956) and numerous others. Our own research hasn't been successful. Perhaps you could steer us in the right direction?
AnswerDeborah, considering the age of the certificates and the numerous others you have, I highly suggest you contact a broker to help you track these down. Not only can they perform a more detailed search for each certificate, they can also help you reorganize the certificates if any value is found. Because the certificates are not in your name, they will require some legal documents to change the ownership and allow them to be sold. They should have all the documents necessary to submit to the current transfer agents in order to make the changes.
