QuestionHello,
Back in 1990 I bought some stock in Kirkton Resourses Corp and Docu-Fax International Inc from J. Appleby Securities Limited. I am not sure if they are still trading or what a share is worth. Would you have any idea?
thanks a lot
AnswerFrom the information I have available, this is what I found:
Docu-Fax went through several name changes (and consolidations - a 1 for 5, then a 1 for 15) and became iSee3D. iSee3D trades on the TSX for about 25 cents per share. With the changes in capital, every 75 shares of Docu-Fax you owned would now be 1 share of iSee3D, so depending on how many shares you started with, you probably don't have too much value in the new shares. In order to be able to sell those shares, you need to talk to iSee3D's transfer agent, Equity Transfer (www.equitytransfer.com#. They can tell you if your old shares are still valid and, if so, how many new shares you will own.
The Kirkton also went through several name changes and consolidations #a 1 for 12, then a 1 for 2.5#. It became Rally Energy, which was acquired by an Egyptian company in 2007 for $7.30 per share cash. With the consolidations, for every 30 shares of Kirkton you would have 1 share of Rally, so there may be more value there for you. If you did not receive a check, you need to contact the transfer agent, Valiant Trust #www.valianttrust.com# and see if they have a record of you. Considering the time since the takeover, it is likely they have turned the funds over to the government since they were unable to find you. The government will keep it in safekeeping for you waiting for you to claim it. You may have to search in every State or Province in which you lived beginning from the time you originally bought the stock until today and see if they hold assets for you. Two helpful sites to search online for missing assets for free is www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org #I give both sites, as each has different states and provinces participating).
