Question
I am an executor of an estate that held the stock, which is worthless. Do you know where I can find out its cost price?
thanks

Answer
Andrew, if you have a specific date on which the stock was purchased, you can try the TMX (www.tmx.com) as they do offer date lookups for companies listed with any of their exchanges (or predecessor exchanges). However, they will charge a fee for that service.

If you don't know the date, I think you are out of luck. The transfer agent might be able to tell you, but assuming that the agent is even still in business (a long shot by itself) they typically won't keep records for defunct companies. The Agent should be listed on the certificate.
