I have found 3000 shares in Lambton Copper Mines Limited in my deceased fathers safe.  The receipts for the shares are from Old Colony Securities Limited.  How can I find out how much the are worth?

Unfortunately, from the information I have available, the shares have no value. The Company had its charter cancelled in 1969, which is what happens when a company fails to file its required financial information (and pay its regulatory fees and taxes) for several years running, which is usually because the company is already out of business.
