Canadian Stocks/Old Stocks

Question
Hello,
My family has been asked by an elderly relative to help him organize his affairs.  While cleaning out his home, we found several old stock certificates and are wondering if these companies still exist and if the stocks are worth anything?  The companies are:
Titan Petroleum Corp.
Heath Gold Mines Ltd.
Salmita Consolidated Mines Ltd.
Maralgo Mines Ltd.
Marlex Enviro-Systems & Resources Ltd.
United Duvex Oils & Mines Ltd.
Dynamo Mines Ltd.
New Kelver Resources Ltd.
Abbican Mines Ltd.
Mid-West Mines Ltd.
Aconic Mining Corp.

Thank you for your help in this matter!  We don't want to throw out something that could help him!

Sincerely, Jennifer

Answer
From the information I have available, this is what I found.

The Titan, Heath, Salmita, Abbican, Dynamo, New Kelver, and Aconic are worthless.

I have no information on United Duvex.

Marlex became Trans-Canada Enviro in 1972, and I have information after that.

Mid-West Mines did two reverse splits (a 1 for 5 and a 1 for 10) and became United Cardigan. I have no information after that.

Maralgo did 2 reverse splits (a 1 for 2, then a 1 for 5) and eventually became Rich Coast Inc. and relocated to the US. Rich Coast deregistered with the SEC in 2008 (a very bad sign) and currently trades over the counter for about 3 cents per share.

I suggest you contact a broker to help you with the Rich Coast and also to research the ones I was unable to find.
