Question
We have found stock issued to my grandfather in 1951 from Cordasun Petroleum. 105 shares @ 35 cents per share. Stock was issued by J.A. Wintrop out of Toronto.
We can find no references except for some mention by The Us Securities Commision. Can you provide any insight?
Thanks,
Jerry

Answer
From the information I have available, the shares went through numerous name changes and acquisitions, but due to the unfavorable acquisition ratios and reverse splits, the original 105 shares may equal less than 1 share of the current company. The Company did a 1 for 10, then a 1 for 7, then was acquired on the basis of 0.179 of a new share for each old share, then 0.38 for 1 in another acquisition. The current company is Canadian Natural, which trades on the TSX for about $70.00 per share. But, as you can see from the ratios above, it is likely your grandfather's shares would have already been wiped out. I suggest you contact the current transfer agent, Computershare, and see if they have any additional information. You can find them on the internet at www.computershare.com.
