Question
I FOUND SEVERAL STOCK CERTIFICATES FROM THE 50'S & 60'S AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THEY ARE OF ANY VALUE.  THE COMPANIES ARE PANTEPEC OIL COMPANY (CARACAS, VENEZUELA); UNITED CANSO OIL & GAS; CANADA SOUTHERN PETROLEUM, LDT, PANCOASTAL, INC;MAGELLAN PETROLEUM CORPORATION; SAN JOSE PETROLEUM INCORPORATED; LAMBTON COPPER MINES LIMITED.  THANKS!  KAREN SWANSON

Answer
Karen, I only have information on a few of those companies, as I believe most of them are not Canadian.

United Canso went into receivership and shareholders received no value.

Lambton had its charter cancelled in 1969. No value for shareholders.

Canada Southern was acquired by Canadian Oil Sands Trust in 2006 for $13.10 per share cash.

I suggest you contact a broker to not only perform a detailed search on all the non-Canadian companies, but also help you with the Canada Southern. They can find the transfer agent for the acquisition and see if the money is still available or, if not, where it was sent.
