Question
I have 200 shares of Launay Resources Inc.stock purchased in 1985 and am wondering if they have any value.

Answer
Bill, from the information I have available, Launay did a 1 for 2 share consolidation and became Southern Star Resources. It later merged with Exall Resources and became Gold Eagle Mines. Gold Eagle was acquired by Goldcorp in 2008 on the basis of 0.292 of a Goldcorp share for every share of Gold Eagle. Based on your 200 shares of Launay, I believe you would have 29 shares of Goldcorp (if I am not missing any further stock consolidations). Goldcorp is trading for about $44.50 per share.

You need to contact Goldcorp's current transfer agent, CIBC Mellon (www.cibcmellon.com) to confirm this information and make sure they have you on their books as a shareholder. If so, they can get your old shares reorganized into the new shares so they could be sold if you want.
