Canadian Stocks/United Grain Growers Shares
Expert: Steven Taylor - 10/21/2010
QuestionWe recently became aware that we had inherited our fathers UGG
shares. At this point cannot find any of the paper trail.
We would like to find out how many shares we own and what
they would be worth.
AnswerDonna, UGG became Agricore United, which was subsequently acquired by Saskatchewan Wheat Pool in 2007 for $20.50 per share cash.
Because it was an all-cash takeover, your father would have likely received a check in 2007. If he did not, then the money would have been turned over to the government for safekeeping until he (or his heirs) claimed it. You can search many of the missing property offices online for free at www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org (check both databases, as they have different participants).
