Question
my mother just 500 shares of this stock dated 07/27/1951. Agent was guaranty trust company of canada, toronto. what happened to this company.

Answer
Steven, from the information I have available, the company was acquired by American Leduc Petroleum in the 1950's on the basis of 1 American Leduc share for every 3 shares of Antone. American Leduc was acquired in 2003 by Veteran Resources for 23 cents per share cash.

If your mother did not receive any cash from the acquisition, the money would have been turned over to the government for safekeeping. That money may still be available. You need to search the missing property offices of every State or Province in which your mother lived from the time she acquired the shares in 1951 until the takeover in 2003. You can search many of them online for free at www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org (check both - they have different information). Search using the name exactly as it appears on the certificate, even if it is misspelled or abbreviated.
