Question
old stocks from my deceased dad.

1. bidgood kirkland gold mines .Issued in 1936
2.silver summit mines ltd. Issued in 1967

Answer
From the information I have available:

Bidgood eventually became Dolly Varden Resources, which trades on the TSX Venture Exchange for about 18 cents per share. Unfortunately, there were a lot of share consolidations and takeovers in between, so if my math is correct, every 1 share of Dolly Varden would have been 10,560 shares of Bidgood Kirkland. You need to contact the current transfer agent, Equity Transfer (www.equitytransfer.com) in regards to confirming your share certificate is valid and, if so, how many shares you would currently own.

Your Silver Summit certificate is actually somewhat historic and, if valid and not cancelled, most likely valuable. The Company today is Barrick Gold, the largest pure gold company in the world. In between, there were several name changes and reverse stock splits (a 1 for 4, then another 1 for 4, then a 1 for 5). Barrick trades on the TSX and NYSE. You need to contact the current transfer agent, CIBC Mellon (www.cibcmellon.com).
