Question
I have some old stocks and cannot find a trace of these companies. I have 100 shares of Guardsman Resources Inc, bought in 1985, 500 of Sandy Cay Resources Inc., and 2,000 of Golden Transit Resources Inc., bought in 1984 and 1985. Are these companies still around, and are they worth anything?

Answer
From the information I have available:

Sandy Cay went through at least 7 name changes and at least 3 reverse stock splits. It is now Northcore Tech, which trades on the TSX for about 10 cents. You need to contact the current transfer agent, Equity Transfer (www.equitytransfer.com) regarding how many shares you may currently own.

I have no information on Guardsman Resources. You should contact a broker and see if they can perform a detailed search for you.

Golden Transit became Posters Plus Marketing, but that was suspended and cease-traded in 1990. Those cease-trade orders remain in effect, which suggests the company never corrected its problems and returned to trading. However, you should contact a broker and see if they can find anything new.
