Question
I have possession of a certificate of 50 shares of of Jamestown Explorations Inc. that belonged to my mother dated Sept. 22, 1975.  In a letter dated December 1, 1981, shareholders changed the company's name to Jamestown Resources, Inc. Is this company still in existence and if so, are these shares worth anything?

Answer
Carla, from the information I have available, the stock did conduct a 1 for 4 reverse split and become Jamestown Resources. The stock didn't seem to last long, as it was slapped with cease-trade orders from both Ontario and Quebec in 1983. Since those orders remain in effect today, and I have no evidence that the stock corrected its problems and resumed trading, it appears the shares have no current value.
