Question
QUESTION: I have come into possession of 500 shares of Magusi River Explorations Inc. that belonged to my father, who is now deceased. Can you tell me is they are worth anything. The certificate is dated June 14, 1972 in the province of Ontario,Canada

ANSWER: From the information I have available, the shares do not appear to have any current value. The Company has done at least 2 mergers (a 1 for 19 share swap, then a 5 for 11) and became Lumsden Building Corp. in 1978. Lumsden was cease-traded in 1980 by Ontario, and since that cease-trade order remains in effect, it does not appear that it was ever revived and resumed trading.

QUESTION: I have some shares with Northern Eagle Mines Limited dated Nov 2, 1967 in the province of Ontario. Are these worth anything?

Answer
It appears the stock went through numerous mergers, name changes, and capital changes. The Company now appears to be Advantex Marketing, which trades on the TSX Venture for about 4 cents per share. You need to contact the current transfer agent, CIBC Mellon (www.cibcmellon.com) to determine how many shares of Advantex you would have now after all the capital changes.
