QuestionHello my grandfather passed on and left me some old stock certificates for the following shares ....
*Silver Leader Mines Limited (transferable at the principal office of United trust company toronto)
*Gull Lake Iron Mines Limited (transferable at the principal office of Crown trust company toronto
*Golden Trio Minerals LTD. (transferable at the principal office of Canada trust company toronto)
* Vista Explorations Ltd. transferable at the principal office of the Sterling trusts Corporation toronto)
AnswerFrom the information I have available:
Gull Lake and Silver Leader are the same company. Gull became Silver Leader, which later became Petroflo, then Flying Cross, and finally Explorers Alliance. Explorers was halted, suspended, delisted and cease-traded in 2002. The shares have no current value.
Vista and Golden Trio are the same company as well - Vista became Golden Trio, then PCS Wireless (after a 1 for 2 reverse split) and finally to Unique Broadband. Unique is still around - it trades for about 9 cents per share on the TSX Venture. You need to contact the current transfer agent, Equity Transfer (www.equitytransfer.com) who will be able to confirm the validity of the shares and then reorganize them into the new shares.
