can you tell me what the news might have been on bce around march of 2000.  according to the price history chart,  the stock price went from 130 a share down to 30.00 a share between january of 2000 and march of 2000.  was there a split of some kind

Wanda, during that period BCE announced it would distribute its remaining interest in Nortel Networks to shareholders. That distribution reduced the value of each common share of BCE by the value of the Nortel distributed, and that was the (main) reason for the large drop in share price.
