Question
We have a client who's Mom passed away.  We are probating the estate and need to find out if the stock they have is of any value.  They have a stock certificate that was countersigned by Guaranty Trust Company of Canada for 5 Class A Shares of Atlantic Nickel Mines Limited dated January 20, 1981.

Any information you can provide us regarding the value of the stock would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer
From the information I have available, Atlantic changed names several times and had at least two capital consolidations (a 1 for 1.4, then a 1 for 6) and is currently Thundermin Resources, which trades on the TSX for 14 cents per share. Because of the consolidations and the share price, the original 5 shares is not worth much right now, unfortunately. However, I suggest you contact the current transfer agent, Equity Transfer and Trust (www.equitytransfer.com) to confirm this information and make sure she did not have other shares.
