Question
Have stock certificate for 100 shares dated July 8, 1977.  Any value and if so, how do I cash it in?

Answer
Rosemary, from the information I have available, the company changed its name to Norbeau Mines before Norbeau was acquired in 1988 by Western Mining for 22 cents per share.

If the certificate is in your name, and you did not receive the cash at the time of the acquisition, the money should have been turned over to the government for safekeeping, waiting for you to claim it. You need to search in every state or province in which you have lived from the time you acquired the certificate to the buyout date. You can search many of them online for free at www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org (try them both, as they have different governments participating).
