Question
I need to track down the purchase price for Noranda Mines (Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec) shares in each month of 1969 for my elderly and quite ill father. He needs this info to help resolve an old tax return. CAn you help me find this information or tell me where to look please?

Answer
Heidi, that information is not easy to find 41 years after the fact, especially considering all the splits and acquisitions. Therefore, it is not as easy as perhaps going to the library and reviewing old stock tables on microfiche for every day you need as that will not take all the capital changes into account. But, I have several suggestions of what you might do.

First, if you have a broker, ask them and see if they can find this information anywhere. Or, contact the current owner of Noranda, XStrata, and see if they have the information available (http://www.xstrata.com/investors). Also, the TSX as the stock exchange on which the company was originally listed may also be able to provide the information, but they do charge a fee for such research (www.tmx.com).
