Question
Looking through old papers from my late father, my mother and I found a stock certificate which my father purchased July 22, 1963.  It is for Paramaque Mines Limited.  I googled Paramaque and found information that Alexandria Minerals corporation purchased land that included Paramaque in 2009.  Would this stock be worth anything to my mother?  thank you

Answer
Unfortunately, from the information I have available, the shares have no value as the company had its charter cancelled in 1973. That is what happens when a company fails to file its required financial and regulatory information several years in a row, which is usually because the company is already out of business. The land Alexandria acquired may have once been Paramaque's, but it is not unusual for exploration property to change hands many, many times through the economic cycles.
