Question
I have an old stock certificate for Gulf Canada that was issued in 1978. I know the Company has changed hands since then and I was wondering if it is worth anything now. I don't think it has anything to do with Gulf Canada Resources but I'm not sure. I would appreciate any info you may be able to provide. Thanks.

Answer
David, the story of Gulf Canada is a very long one. They did a reorganization in 1987 and shareholders received shares of 3 companies, all of which later merged and were acquired by other companies, which themselves were later acquired.

Because this is very complicated, I think your best move is to contact a broker who will be able to determine if your shares are still valid and, if so, what they might be worth now.
