Question
We have 200 shares of Dome Petroleum Limited Stock purchased in 1981 registered with Canada Permanent Trust Company. Do these have value?

Answer
Kathy, from the information I have available:

Dome ran into serious financial trouble and was acquired by Amoco Canada in 1988. Dome common shareholders received convertible debentures worth $1.14 for each share of Dome. Those debentures were convertible into common shares of Amoco's US parent. Amoco merged in 1998 with BP and continues as BP.

You need to contact BP's transfer agent and see if they have you on the books as a shareholder. You can find the contact information on BP's website at www.bp.com.
