Question
QUESTION: We have 500 shares in the above company.Issued Dec.21, 1970, certificate #0130.

Countersigned & registered by The Sterling Trust Corp., Toronto. Please advise how we redeem

Thank you

ANSWER: Unfortunately, based on the information I have available, you cannot redeem the shares as they are worthless. The Company became Coniston Explorations, which had its charter cancelled in 1978.

QUESTION: If shares are registered is there not some responsibility to the trust company to notify the share holders of the changes and when the stock collapsed.

Answer
There is no requirement for the transfer agent/registrar to notify shareholders that their shares are worthless. Who would pay for it? Additionally, many of the transfer agents went defunct at around the same time their clients did. Its a tough business.
