Canadian Stocks/Old Stocks

Question
Hi! We recently came across some very old stock certificates in a trunk of family photos. There were three certifactes, all from the 1930s. The Reward Mining Company Limited (transfer agents Prudential Trust Company), The West Duverny Gold Mines Limited and the Central Duverny Gold Mines Limited (both via transfer agents Eastern Trust Company Limited in Montreal). How do I go about finding out if these are worth anything? Thanks for any advice you can offer!!

Answer
Steve, from the information I have available:

The Reward has no current value. The Company went through several name changes but was struck from the Corporate Register in 1982.

West Duverny has no current value. It had its charter cancelled in the 1970's.

I have no information on Central Duverny at all. Since the transfer agent is no longer around, I suggest you try the Province of Incorporation (listed on the certificate) and see what information they have available. Or, contact a broker and see if they can perform a more detailed search for you.
