Question
My father in law recently passed.  In his belongings we found shares in Cable Mines and Oils Limited from 1958.  Are they of any value?

Answer
David, I don't have any ultimate information on the current status of the company. It did go through numerous name changes and at least 1 reverse stock split (a 1 for 4) and became Fabien Explorations Inc. I have no additional information after that.

Usually in these cases, you would contact the Transfer Agent first, as they will know if the shares have value. That will be listed on the front of the certificate. You can contact the Province of Incorporation and inquire about what information they have on file. You could also take the certificate to a broker and ask them to perform a more detailed search for you.
