Question
I have 4 old certificates from my father (Sterling Blend Tea Company Limited (dated 1925), Renn Industries Inc (dated 1974), Copper Soo Mining Company Limited (dated 1965), and Las Maderas Mining & Petroleum Ltd (dated 1971).  The first certificate was from Montreal and the last 3 are from BC.  I can't find any info on these.  Can you please help?
Thanks
Barb

Answer
Barb, from the information I have available:

I have no information on Sterling Blend, but it does predate most of the information I have available. Best suggestion is to contact a broker and see if they can find anything.

Renn Industries went through several name changes and is now Patheon Inc. Patheon trades on the TSX for about $2.30 per share. You need to contact the current transfer agent, Computershare (www.computershare.com) to confirm this information and if the certificate is valid. If so, they can also tell you if there have been any other capital changes and how many current shares of Patheon the old certificate represents.

Copper Soo went through numerous name changes and reverse stock splits and is now Inlet Resources, which trades on the TSX Venture fora bout 25 cents per share. However, those reverse splits were huge. 1 share of Inlet today would have required 15,750 shares of Copper Soo. I suggest you contact the current agent (Computershare) to confirm this information.

Las Maderas was dissolved in the 1970's. No current value.
