QuestionHi there, I have a stock certifcate for a 2500 shares in a company that was called at the time Landmark Capital Corp, I have found that they later changed their name to Landmark Oil & Gas and I believe they were sold in 2008 to a private company called Deep Creek Oil & Gas.
Are these stocks worth anything now? I was never notified of the sale and believe the stockbrokers that originally sold the stock is no longer in business, and I have hit a dead end. Any help will be extremely useful. Thanks in advance!
AnswerFrom the information I have, you are correct that the company did change their name to Landmark Oil and Gas. Unfortunately, they filed bankruptcy in 2008. Deep Creek acquired Landmark's assets, and paid off the secured creditors. Unsecured creditors received some stock in Deep Creek for their claims, but common shareholders received nothing. The value of their assets was far outweighed by their debts.
