Question
QUESTION: Hi Steven,
I have a stock certificate my father purchased on Nov 25, 1982 for 1000 shares of Petro-American Energy Inc. I can find no information on whether this company has been dissolved or if the stock is worth anything. Can you be of any help? Thank you.

Barb

ANSWER: Unfortunately, from the information I have available, the shares have no current value. The Company was dissolved in the mid-1980's.

QUESTION: I thank you very much for your previous answer to my question re: my parents' stock certificates. I was hoping you could be of help in looking up any of the additional stock certificates I have:

-Trevex Resources Ltd. Vancouver, BC. July 7, 1983, 1000 shares
-Wimberley Resources Ltd. Ontario. May 3, 1983, 5000 shares
-Tanner Arctic Oil Ltd. Alberta. April 11, 1983, 10,000 shares
-Expo Oil N.L. NSW Australia. November 28, 1986, 500 shares
-Inter Mountain Development Inc. BC. Sept 19, 1984, 1000 shares

Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer
Barb, from the information I have available:

I have no information on Trevex Resources. If there is a transfer agent listed on the certificate, I would contact them first. If not, try the Province of Incorporation and see what information they have available. Or, contact a broker and ask them to perform a detailed search for you.

Wimberley was cease-traded in the mid-1980's, and that order remains in effect.

Tanner went through at least 4 name changes and 2 reverse stock splits (1 for 10 and a 1 for 4# and is currently Algonquin Oil and Gas, which trades on the TSX Venture for about 5 cents per share. You will need to contact the current transfer agent, CIBC Mellon #www.cibcmellon.com# about reorganizing your old shares.

Expo was an Australian company that voluntarily delisted in Canada in 1986, Shortly thereafter they received a buyout offer for 60 cents #Australian) cash per share. However, from looking at the Australian records, it appears they changed their name to Expo Limited before being delisted for failure to file their financial statements in 1988, and then struck from the corporate register in 1990. I have no idea if shareholders received any cash prior to the dissolution, since my information on it is extremely limited as a non-Canadian company.

Inter Mountain was cease-traded in 1989, and that order remains in effect.
