Question
I also have 500 share of Tritex Petroleum purchased frrom M. Rash & Co. in 1983.  How can I sell my shares?

Answer
Mark, from the information I have available:

Tritex went through several name changes and at least one reverse split (a 1 for 10) and became Jemtec, which is still around. It trades on the TSX Venture for about 65 cents per share. You need to contact the current transfer agent, who I believe is Computershare (www.computershare.com) to determine if your shares are valid and, if so, how many shares you currently have and to get them reorganized into new shares.
