Question
After my mother's recent passing, I found a stock certificate for 500 shares of Winwest Oil & Mining. I cannot find this company. There is also a sheet stapeled to the certificate with the heading Greenshileds Incorporated, Greenshields Ltd. It says delivery date 6/8/71. I am trying to find out if these stocks are any good. Thank you in advance for your help.

I have no information on Winwest except that it was slapped with a cease-trade order by Ontario in 1984, and that order remains in effect today. That is a very bad sign. However, Canada does list Winwest as active in their database, with the most recent address given as:

I suggest you try contacting them directly.

Greenshields should be the name of the original broker that delivered the shares back in 1971.
