QuestionIn going through some papers passed down in our family, my mom and I discovered some old stock purchased by my grandfather. the one by itself is "Edvan Oils LTD. Vancouver, British Columbia 1953. it was countersigned by; Prudential Trust Company Limited. The other stocks are: International Gold Mines Limited.Vancover, Canada..1935. My great uncle was partner in this company and was a genealogists. I hope you can give us some good news about these stocks & bonds.Sharena
AnswerSharena, from the information I have available:
Edvan went through numerous mergers and name changes and ended as Cheyenne Petroleum, which has no value. The company ran into serious financial trouble and went into receivership in 1989. The shares were then suspended, cease-traded and delisted.
I have no information on International Gold Mines, as it predates much of the information I have available. Considering the great age of the certificates, I suggest you either contact the Province of Incorporation (listed on the certificate) and see what information they have available, or contact a broker and see if they can perform a detailed search for you.
