I recently found shares in Trans-Canada Resources Ltd. belonging to my late grandfather.  The Transfer Agent has advised that the 741 shares are now worth approximately $300; can you please confirm this calculation.

David, the value would depend on the date of the original certificate, since there may be capital changes or distributions involved. However, it doesn't matter much as the Transfer Agent keeps the shareholder records, so what they say pretty much goes. Sorry, but they make the ultimate determination based on their own records and the records of the company and there is not really anything you can do to change it.
