Question
Hi Steven,

In the early 1980s I bought a stock named Tri Basin which in 1988 was converted into shares of Trian Equities Ltd (CUSIP 89582N 10 8). I can find no listing or information for this company. Do you know if this company was purchased or still exists in any form ? If so, is there any value in the 200 shares I own? Thanks.

Michael

Answer
Michael, from the information I have available, the Trian Equities was taken private in 2003. Shareholders received $4.20 cash per share. If you did not receive the cash, it would have likely been turned over to the government for safekeeping. You will need to search the lost property departments of every State or Province in which you lived from the time the shares were converted until the buyout. You can search many of them online for free at www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org (search both).
