Question
Hi there,

I found an old stock certificate for 200 shares Shilo Mines Ltd. purchased in 1972 from M. Rash & Co. in Toronto, ON.
Does it have any value?

Thanks,
Jim

Answer
Jim, Shilo went through numerous name changes. They also went through numerous reverse stock splits (a 1 for 10, then a 1 for 15, then a 1 for 5, then a 1 for 2). They ended as Leader Capital, which went private in 2009, and shareholders received 51 cents per share. However, because of the reverse splits, it looks like your original 200 shares would have been reversed out of existence by then. Even if you had just the one share, it would only be worth 51 cents.

You can try to contact the last transfer agent, Equity Transfer (www.equitytransfer.com) and see if they can tell you about any cash in your name.
