Question
Hello,

In 1987 I purchased 964 ounces of silver from my broker, 'PEMBERTON', located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Apparently they must have gone out of business and issued sent me a certificate of my holdings.  The certificate was issued by Guardian Trust Company and the Beneficiary is 'TRANSHARE CO', dated April 24, 1987.  I kept the certificate in my safety box for over 23 years until now that I am retiring.  To my surprise the company 'TRANSHARE CO' as found on the website is not the same company.  They have been in business since 2004 and have no such record of my certificate.  I deperately need help.  How can I locate the Transfer Agent to get the name transferred over to mines so that I can sell the shares?  Please help.

Answer
Kathy, I suggest that in a case like this, you should enlist the government for help. I would contact the Ontario Securities Commission (http://www.osc.gov.on.ca/) and see what they can do to help with your situation. They may have specific information about Pemberton, Guardian and Transhare.
