Question
Hi,

I am helping my elderly mother with some stock/dividend issues left from my deceased father.

He had 200 shares of Amerimac Petroleums Ltd, date in 1952.  Are the shares worth anything or can they be disposed of?

He also received a medallion for being one of 100,000 Albertas that joined with Great Canadian Oil Sands and Sun oil company issued in 1975.  Mom has no idea what happened there, can you tell me where I would check to see if the debentures are still active?

Lastly, she received a letter of transmittal regarding 125 shares from the Canada Permanenty Trust Company from Vancouver, regarding New Imperial Mines Ltd, dated Aug 1978, but can't recall anything about it.

I have no idea where to begin with this stuff.  Could you point me in the right direction.

Thx,
Bob

Answer
Bob, from the information I have available:

I have no information on Amerimac Petroleums at all. You might consult with a broker and see what information they have.

ON the debentures, I think they are long since matured, but you should check with Suncor (as the successor to Great Canadian Oil Sands and Sun Oil) and see if they can provide you with more information. www.suncor.com

New Imperial did a 2 for 5 reverse split and became Whitehorse Copper Mines which later was acquired by Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting. I don't know what consideration was paid to Whitehorse shareholders, but you might also consult with a broker on this one.
