Question
QUESTION: my friend has a stock certificate (Share Mines & Oils Ltd.) no date on the certificate .   He purchased the stock in January 1968.   I can't find any info on the company on the internet.   Transfer agent was Guaranty Trust co of Canada.  Incorporated in the Province of Alberta.   I would appreciate any info that you can supply.   Thank you, Bill

ANSWER: Bill, from the information I have available, the company did a 1 for 4 reverse stock split and became Share Resources. Share stopped making its required regulatory filings and was suspended, cease-traded and delisted in 2000. Since that order remains in effect, and I don't show them going back and filing their missing documents, I believe they never rectified their problems and returned to trading.

QUESTION: Thank you for your help.   Could you provide the date of the 1 for 4 reverse split and the name change.   Since the stock certificate was registered in my friends name, he should have received this info from the company.   Yhank you, Bill

Answer
Bill, the date of the reverse split and name change was October 29, 1996. The new name was Share Resources Inc.

Yes, your friend should have received notice of the name change from the company, but if he had moved or changed addresses from the date he purchased the stock, they may have lost track of him. That is very common.
