Question
I have a certificate for shares in my name, of an old stock Pipestone Petroleums Inc
I would like to find out what the share value is of this certificate and status of the name of the shares now

Answer
Peter, from the information I have available, the company was acquired in 1995 by Blue Range on the basis of 1 Blue Range common share for 13 Pipestone shares. Blue Range was later acquired by Big Bear on a 1 for 1 basis, and then Big Bear was acquired by Avid on the basis of 1 Avid for each 15 Big Bear. Avid was acquired by Husky in 2001 for $5.85 cash per Avid share.

If you did not receive the cash, it was hopefully turned over to the government for safekeeping. Depending on where you are, it might still be available for you to claim. You need to search every state or Province in which you lived from the date on your certificate to the acquisition. You can search many of them online for free at www.missingmoney.com and www.naupa.org.
