Hi, my father passed away and we have found some old stock certificates.  The shares are for Shirex explorations ltd. and they were purcased at Durham securities in Toronto.  Any way to find out if the company exists, was bought out or taken over, name change etc?  We want to know if there is any worth in these.

Anita, from the information I have available, Shirex did 2 reverse stock splits (a 1 for 4, then a 1 for 3) and became Sumtra Development, which trades on the NEX Board of the TSX Venture Exchange for about 4 cents per share. You need to contact the current agent, Equity Financial (www.equityfinancialtrust.com) about reorganizing the old shares.
