Question
My father had just passed away and while going through his stuff I came across 15000 to 20000 shares with Sunburst Petroleum. He had purchased them back in 1980 and 1981. I need to figure out how to transfer them to my name or cash them out? It says on the certificates if there is a death that they can be transferred. Can you help me out?
Thanks, Bob Bouchard

Answer
Robert, from the information I have available, it appears there is no current value. The Company was suspended and cease-traded by the BCSC in 1983, and was subsequently delisted by the Vancouver Stock Exchange in 1984. It looks like they drilled a deep exploratory oil and gas well on the Washington coast and came up dry in 1981/1982. That may have been the end of the Company. I have no information showing they ever tried to correct their problems, as the cease-trade order remains in effect. You could contact a broker for confirmation and make sure.
